“The Banality of Evil is a phrase coined in 1963 by Hannah Arendt in her work Eichmann in Jerusalem. It describes the thesis that the great evils in history generally, and the Holocaust in particular, were not executed by fanatics or sociopaths but rather by ordinary people who accepted the premises of their state and therefore participated with the view that their actions were normal.” (Wiki)
Steve… After the first Democrat caller’s “nastiness” I was reluctant to strike a mean tone before your friends. But the second part of my question – regarding the oil revenue-sharing agreements… and the immoral use of force to make the central government factions within it… to sign what they clearly are in big disagreement about – was ignored.
They went to commercial, and you were on deck to address it when they skipped to another caller before Chad. I particularly wanted to hear you address the loss of conservative principles in the party I had alluded to with my mention of Reagan; and, of course, I wanted to make the case (with an interjection) that the oil deal is a real bone of contention for why the government is not coalescing – and it’s simply a subject not broached in the MSM (“No freedom-loving people would accept such a deal…”).
But, I agree the support comments/questions from Chad and Jeremy were very astute – as was your input, especially – for all those who were listening in.
Sadly, I was unimpressed with the ladies (who I’m sure are very nice) spouting their talking points as if by rote (learned from their days in the Junior League, no doubt), in support of Mr. Hunter and Mr. Thompson. But then, it’s O.K., because I’m still so proud of the huge buzz Dr. Paul surely carried forward during the latest GOP debate… and, man, I can’t stop watching that video!
I hope what others have said better will prove to be true: That the sheer brazenness of the party aparatchiks’ and the MSM’s PR attempts to sway public opinion will become so obvious to the rank-and-file before Super Tuesday (or whatever they call it)… to enough thoughtful voters who really give a damn… that, in a divided field, it will spell the difference.
What’s confusing to me is that even hard-core Republican war-mongers are on to FOX – and they just find it oh-so-funny!?! Is that whiff of racism for real? Do these people have any curiosity left? Do they actually read?
“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”
– James Madison, Political Observations, Apr. 20, 1795 in: Letters and Other Writings of James Madison, vol. 4, p. 491 (1865)
I feel like sometimes I’m living in a warfare-welfare-police state now. And the liberals – like their formerly conservative brethren – want to control our lives in the worst way too. As somewhat of an outsider… the mean-spiritedness of many of these party faithful… is palpable… and crazier-than-hell.
It’s been the modern totalitarian dream (control of the many by the very few – liberal, conservative, or not) since before WWII. Today, the American Psychology Association whores work hand-in-hand with the psy-ops boys conducting the experiments that the Madison Avenue hounds use to herd us into compliance and docility. And all of these groups… struggle for legitimacy… and their share of the corporatist pie… in this brave New World Order ahead.
